How It Works:

A ball screw converts the rotational movement of a stepper motor or servo motor into precise linear movement. Recirculating balls between the screw and nut reduce sliding friction, allowing the nut to travel smoothly along the screw as the shaft rotates.

For a 4mm lead, one complete revolution of the ball screw theoretically moves the nut approximately 4mm along the screw. Actual positioning accuracy depends on screw manufacturing tolerance, motor resolution, drive system, mechanical alignment, preload, and overall machine construction.

CNC Installation:

The ball screw should be installed with suitable end supports or bearing blocks to maintain proper alignment. The nut housing should be securely attached to the moving carriage or gantry, while the ball screw is coupled to an appropriate stepper or servo motor.
